The Parent Voice is run by a group of parents, representing the parents of the school. The group is run with the full support of the school. It is an opportunity for parents to come together, share ideas, and put forward their views to the Head Teacher and Governing Body of Burnley High School.
They can break down barriers, perceived or actual, between the school and parents who may be less involved. The most important factors in improving schools are good teaching and strong leadership. The biggest factor influencing the success of a child is the parents. Involving parents in school life brings these two forces together and improves behaviour, results and the school as a whole.
- To give parents a voice and increase their active involvement in decision-making, fostering a culture of ownership and participation.
- To develop a partnership between Burnley High School and parents / carers in order to support and promote the students’ learning and bring about change.
The Parent Voice have an advisory and consultative role. The Governing Body remains the decision maker and provides strategic leadership.
